Konoe Iemichi

Konoe Iemichi (d. 1224; 近衛 家通) was Minister of the Left of Japan in the apex of his career.

Biography

Konoe Iemichi was born into the Konoe clan, a branch of the Fujiwara clan, as the son of Konoe Iezane. He thus may be called Fujiwara Iemichi in old texts.

In the intercalary tenth month of 1221, he was transferred from being Minister of the Right to being Minister of the Left. He died in the eighth month of 1224.[HCSL-GOHORI] He left no children.

It is said that he had a pretty face, but that he was stubborn and lacked knowledge in Chinese and Japanese history.
