Nijō Kanemoto

Nijō Kanemoto (二条 兼基) was Chancellor of Japan in the apex of his career.

Biography

Nijō Kanemoto was born into the Nijō clan, a branch of the Fujiwara clan, as the son of Nijō Yoshizane. He thus may be called Fujiwara Kanemoto in old texts. His son was Nijō Michihira.

Titles

His tenure as Advisor lasted from 1299 to 1301; in that title, he was preceded by Takatsukasa Kanetada and succeeded by Kujō Moronori.[DNHS-377]

His tenure as Chancellor lasted from 1301 to 1305; in that title, he was preceded by Takatsukasa Kanetada and succeeded by Kujō Moronori.[DNHS-377]
